Terms of service

A note on words we use

  • You — the person who creates a medwallet account and uses the app, including any family members or dependents whose records you manage.
  • The app / the service — the medwallet consumer health-records application and related services.
  • Health information (PHI) — information about your health that is tied to you as an identifiable person: your medications, vitals, documents, voice notes, and the records of dependents you manage. We define and handle this in detail in our Privacy Policy.

1. Who you are agreeing with

These Terms are an agreement between you and medwallet, the company that operates the medwallet app.

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. What medwallet is — and what it is not

medwallet is a tool to help you organize and keep your own and your family's health records. It is a record-keeping and personal-organization tool.

medwallet is not a medical provider, and it does not give medical advice. The app does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. Nothing in the app is a substitute for professional medical care.

Medical disclaimer (please read)

  • Always seek professional advice. Always talk to a qualified healthcare professional about any medical question, symptom, medication, or health decision. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you saw or stored in medwallet.
  • In an emergency, call your local emergency number (for example, 911) or go to the nearest emergency department. medwallet is not for emergencies and does not contact emergency services.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. medwallet stores and displays the information you put in. It does not verify it. Reminders, schedules, and summaries are conveniences, not medical instructions — confirm anything that matters with your healthcare professional and the original source (for example, your prescription label).
  • No provider–patient relationship. Using medwallet does not create a doctor–patient, pharmacist–patient, or any other professional healthcare relationship between you and medwallet.

AI features disclaimer

medwallet may offer features that use artificial intelligence to summarize or surface information about your health records ("AI health insights").

  • AI output can be wrong. AI-generated summaries, suggestions, or insights may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. They are informational only and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
  • Always verify. Do not act on an AI-generated insight without confirming it with a qualified healthcare professional and the original records.
  • Your judgment, and your professional's judgment, govern — not the app's output.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials and device secure, and for activity under your account.
  • Managing records for others. If you add or manage records for a family member or dependent, you confirm you are entitled to do so. A person under 14 cannot be the account holder. For dependents aged 14 or older, additional consent rules may apply, consistent with Quebec Law 25 (P-39.1 s. 4.1) and our Privacy Policy.

4. Subscriptions and billing

  • Auto-renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.
  • Payments. Payments are processed by our payment providers (Stripe and RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your full card number. See the Privacy Policy § 5.
  • Deleting your account does not automatically refund a subscription, and does not cancel an Apple/Google subscription for you — you must cancel that through Apple or Google. See § 6.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the app for any unlawful purpose, or to store anyone else's information without the right to do so;
  • attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the app or other users' data;
  • interfere with the security or integrity of the service.

6. Account deletion and your data rights

You can delete your account from within the app (this satisfies Apple's requirement that an app offering account creation also offer in-app account deletion).

When you delete your account:

  • your and your dependents' live health records are permanently deleted from our active systems;
  • a health-information-free audit trail is kept for a legally required retention period (at least about six years), then destroyed or anonymized;
  • deleted information may remain in our encrypted backups for up to 28 days before aging out;
  • you can export a copy of your data first — the delete flow offers this;
  • deleting your account does not refund a paid subscription and does not cancel an Apple/Google subscription for you.

Your full data rights — access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability (a FHIR export), and withdrawal of consent — and how to exercise them are described in our Privacy Policy § 7. The legal basis and the exact retention periods are set there.

7. Health-data responsibility and limits

  • You own and control your records. The health information you enter is yours. We store and process it to provide the app, as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • We are not responsible for healthcare decisions. Because medwallet is a record-keeping tool and not a medical provider, we are not responsible for any healthcare decision made by you or anyone else based on information stored in, or produced by, the app. Confirm anything that matters with a qualified healthcare professional. (See the medical disclaimer in § 2.)
  • Accuracy. We do not verify the medical accuracy of the records you enter or of AI-generated insights.

8. Service availability, warranties, and limitation of liability

  • Availability. We aim to keep the app available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

9. Changes to the service and to these Terms

We may update the app and these Terms. If we make a material change to these Terms, we will update the effective date.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the app unlawfully. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time (see § 6).

12. French version (version française)

For Quebec users, Quebec law — Quebec Law 25 and the Charter of the French Language — requires a French-language version, and the French version is the authoritative version for Quebec legal purposes.
